There are those who claim
that the tenure process should be decided as a result of
a academic or peer review, not a petition or the voices and opinions
of those who spent years of their lives at the
university.
The
Barnard administration referred to "outsiders"
attempting to influence the tenure decision. The
response from many alumnae/i to this comment was that it
was interesting how Barnard graduates were important to
the college's future and part of its honored past...when
it came to seeking donations and inviting us to
reunions. We are not willing to remain silent
partners while Barnard's current administration
lowers the standards of academic integrity for which
Barnard and Columbia have always been famous.
